Interior Design: Residential

Kitchen Renovation

The Owners wanted to update their kitchen, both in style and in state-of-the-art appliances without moving any walls. The walls, new flooring and new cabinets were lightened to open up the space, making it feel larger. The arrangement of the cabinets was changed to maximize counter space on the new granite counter tops. The new refrigerator, icemaker and dishwasher are hidden behind cabinet door panels. A new "old" light fixture was added with a fresco on the ceiling, surrounding the fixture. The slider doors were removed and replaced with custom, stained glass french doors. A custom bench seat was added to maximize seating and floor space.

Master Bathroom

This linen room was transformed into a master bathroom with a large shower, whirlpool tub, vanity with two sinks and toilet area. With all the components in this room, soffits were used to identify different areas. The attention to detail, mouldings, combination of patterns and textures, use of color and creative space planning won this bathroom both the Designer's Choice Award and People's Choice Award at the Zurbrugg Memorial Foundation Showhouse. This bathroom has been featured in national publications. The Owners were so pleased, this bathroom remains just as you see it, six years later and we are currently designing a large addition to this home. The Owner's have adamantly stated "leave the master bathroom as is!"

Dining Room

This shore house dining room was designed with a European and Mediterranean influence. Because it is located across the street from the beach, all the imported fabrics are functional for the climate. The window treatments are elegant and operational. The pedestal columns were added to the existing woodwork and historically documented wallpaper was used above the six-foot wainscoting plate rail. New imported tile flooring, with custom accents was added, as well as lighting upgrades for the entire room. This stunning dining room is both elegant and comfortable and was awarded First Place in the Residential Single Space category of the Annual ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) design competition.

Living Room

An oriental accent was the request for this formal living room, a room that is both exotic and inviting. Leaded glass panels were added to the windows, with formal silk window treatments, combines four silk fabrics and three types of silk trims. A variety of textures were utilized here, including silk, raw silk, velvet, linen, leather and wool fabrics, as well as different colors and stains on the woods, pine, maple, oak and cherry. Heavy wood mouldings were added to the room with a two piece crown, two ceiling mouldings, chair rail, heavy door casings, over door mouldings and a seven inch base moulding. A custom designed star ottoman is the room's centerpiece. This magnificent room was awarded a special Best of Show, Designer's Choice Award at the Zurbrugg Memorial Foundation Showhouse. It has also been featured in national magazines.
